CRIST will build a partially equipped cable laying vessel

Crist S.A. begins the production work on the construction of a part of the equipped cable laying vessel for the French shipowner (Nexans Subsea Operations) - on Monday the first sheet metal cutting took place per unit.

 


NB 314 Nexans Aurora, with the DP3 dynamic positioning system, will be designed according to the ST-297 CLV (Cable Laying Vessel) project from the design and consulting office Skipsteknisk z Alesund. The ship will be adapted to work in difficult weather conditions, while maintaining high maneuverability and maintaining position.



The advanced unit, 149.9 m long, 31 m wide and 17,000 t load capacity, will accommodate a crew of 90 people. It will be adapted to laying power cables, including laying cables in bundles, connecting, repairing and protecting them. An additional equipment will be a basket for fiber optic cable with a capacity of 450 tons.

 

The unit will be built at the CRIST shipyard, the final finishing works will be carried out at the Norwegian shipyard Ulstein, while the final recipient is Nexans from France. The company's main activities are advanced solutions in the field of cabling and communication. With over 120 years of experience, Nexans currently employs over 26,000 people.
