Over 100 meters long, 17 wide with the capacity to transport 90 cars - these are the parameters of the new hybrid ferry that CRIST will build for the Finnish ferry operator Finferries. Today CRIST S.A. has initiated the steel-cutting proces.

The P 315 ferry will be powered by shore-charged batteries. The diesel power generators will serve as a backup power source for the unit, used in bad weather or large ice buildup along its route. The new unit will be 100.5 m long, 17.4 m wide. It will fit 90 passenger cars and 372 passengers. The ferry is to be operated by a crew of three. Vessel is designed by LMG Marin, one of Europe's leading naval architect and ship design houses.

The earlier, also built by CRIST, and designed by the StoGda design office for Finferries, hybrid double-ended ferry "Elektra" proved to be a great success on an international scale. Its innovative charging system and hybrid solution have been awarded, among others, the international 'Ship of the Year' award at the Marine Propulsion Awards 2018 and the CEMT 2018 award for outstanding contributions to the success of the European maritime industry presented at the 2nd Vision Development Forum in Gdynia.
